(AA) - Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Levent Gumrukcu said on
Friday that Turkey regretted Armenian Chief prosecutor's remarks on
Turkish-Armenian border.

Chief Prosecutor Aghvan Hovsepyan stated during the Pan-Armenian Lawyers
Congress on July 5 and 6 that the Turkish-Armenian border wasn't
determined legally and the lost Armenian territories, as he claimed,
must be returned to Armenia.
Gumrukcu stressed that the remarks of an official post like the Chief Prosecutor's reflected the problematic mentality prevailing in Armenia on Turkish-Armenian relations and its neighbour Turkey's territorial integrity.
He argued that the statement also contradicted the obligations of Armenia to the international organizations it is affiliated such as the United Nations (UN) and Organization for Security and Coordination in Europe (OSCE).
"It must be known that nobody can dare to claim territory from Turkey," he urged.

Azerbaijan, Turkey hold joint drill....
ReplyDeleteThe Turkish and Azerbaijani armies launched a joint military exercises on July 12 that will run in Baku and Nakhchivan until July 28.
According to a statement issued late July 12 by the Turkish General Staff, the aim of the exercises is to strengthen the military cooperation between the two countries and share information and experience.
The land forces of the two countries will be involved in the war games where an infantry division will be involved in the Baku exercises, while a mechanized infantry division will take part in the exercises in Nakhchivan.
The drill came as the prosecutor general of Armenia, Aghvan Hovsepyan, recently said Armenia should re-obtain its lost territories as the 100th anniversary of the 1915 killings at the hands of the Ottomans approaches.
During a presentation at the Pan-Armenian Forum of Lawyers held in Yerevan on July 5-6, Hovsepyan said victims of the killings should receive material compensation and that church lands should be returned to the Armenian Church.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed fury at Hovsepyan’s declaration that the border between Turkey and Armenia has never been legally established and that lost Armenian land should be returned to Armenia.
“Such a declaration made by an official occupying a position as important as that of prosecutor general reflects the prevailing problematic mentality in Armenia as to the territorial integrity of its neighbor Turkey and to Turkish-Armenian relations and also contradicts the obligations it has undertaken toward the international organizations of which it is a member, particularly the U.N. and the OSCE. One should be well aware that no one can presume to claim land from Turkey,” the statement said.
Turkey and Azerbaijan have growing political, economic and military ties, particularly with a project to carry gas from Azerbaijan to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic-Pipeline (TAP), which will traverse Turkey and Greece.

Επιστροφή εδαφών από Τουρκία ζητά η Αρμενία....
ReplyDeleteΗ ΔΗΛΩΣΗ του γενικού εισαγγελέα της Αρμενίας κ. Αγκβάν Χοβσεπιάν, που ανέφερε ότι θα πρέπει να επιστραφούν στην Αρμενία τα χαμένα εδάφη 5-7 επαρχιών που κατέχει τώρα η Τουρκία, προκάλεσε την αντίδραση της Άγκυρας. Ο γενικός εισαγγελέας της Αρμενίας κ. Αγκβάν Χοβσεπιάν, μιλώντας στο φόρουμ της Ένωσης Αρμενίων Δικηγορών στο Ερεβάν, τόνισε πως επί τη ευκαιρία της επετείου των 100 χρόνων της αρμενικής γενοκτονίας από τους Τούρκους (1915) οι Αρμένιοι ετοιμάζουν μεγάλες εκδηλώσεις στη χώρα και σε όλο τον κόσμο όπου υπάρχει αρμενική διασπορά.
Οι εκδηλώσεις αυτές, σε συνεργασία με την αρμενική Εκκλησία, θα δίνουν έμφαση αφενός στο πάγιο αίτημα της αναγνώρισης από πλευράς της Τουρκίας της γενοκτονίας και αφετέρου στη διεκδίκηση από την Τουρκία 5-7 επαρχιών όπου κατοικούσε αμιγής αρμενικός πληθυσμός και εκδιώχτηκε με βάρβαρο τρόπο. Το θέμα, είπε, εκτός από ηθικό είναι και νομικό καθώς οι αρμενικές διεκδικήσεις είναι νόμιμες και βασίζονται στο διεθνές δίκαιο.
Ο γενικός εισαγγελέας της Αρμενίας είπε ακόμη ότι δεν έχουν οριστεί διά νόμου τα σύνορα μεταξύ Τουρκίας και Αρμενίας και ότι θα πρέπει να επιστραφούν στην Αρμενία τα χαμένα εδάφη.
Τις απόψεις Χοβσεπιάν συμμερίζεται απόλυτα και ο πρόεδρος της Αρμενίας, κ. Σερζ Σαρκισιάν, ο οποίος στο ίδιο φόρουμ τόνισε πως οι Αρμένιοι δεν ξεχνούν τις πατρίδες τους στη σημερινή Τουρκία από τις οποίες εκδιώχτηκαν διά της βίας, ενώ μεγάλο μέρος του πληθυσμού σφαγιάστηκε από τα οθωμανικά και κεμαλικά στρατεύματα.
Ο εκπρόσωπος του τουρκικού Υπ. Εξωτερικών κ. Λεβέντ Γκουμρουκτσούκ ανέφερε ότι οι δηλώσεις του Αρμένιου Εισαγγελέα καταδικάζονται με λύπη. «Δεν είναι δουλειά κανενός να διεκδικεί εδάφη από την Τουρκία», τόνισε ο εκπρόσωπος του τουρκικού ΥΠΕΞ.
