Το Ισλαμικό Κράτος στη Συρία και το Ιράκ, οργάνωση με δεσμούς με την Αλ Κάιντα, είχε καταλάβει την πόλη, η οποία βρίσκεται στο βορρά της Συρίας την Τετάρτη, μαχόμενη εναντίον του βασικού βραχίονα της κοσμικής και μετριοπαθούς ισλαμιστικής αντιπολίτευσης, Ελεύθερο Συριακό Στρατό.
Οι μάχες μεταξύ των δύο ανταρτικών οργανώσεων είχαν δημιουργήσει φόβους για έναν «εμφύλιο μέσα στον εμφύλιο».
Σύμφωνα με ανταποκριτή του BBC στην περιοχή των συνόρων Τουρκίας – Συρίας, οι δύο ένοπλες οργανώσεις συμφώνησαν να προχωρήσουν σε ανταλλαγή αιχμαλώτων και επιστροφή κατασχεμένων περιουσιακών στοιχείων.
Δεν έχει διευκρινιστεί κατά πόσο η κατάπαυση του πυρός αφορά συγκρούσεις των δύο οργανώσεων και σε άλλα σημεία της αραβικής χώρας.
Αναλυτές εκτιμούν ότι οι πιθανότητες η Δύση να εξοπλίσει τον Ελεύθερο Συριακό Στρατό αυξάνονται, στο βαθμό που ο τελευταίος θα διαχωριστεί εμφατικά από τους ριζοσπάστες ισλαμιστές αντάρτες, που μάχονται επίσης κατά του καθεστώτος Άσαντ.
Ο αντιπρόεδρος της κυβέρνησης της Συρίας, Κάντρι Τζαμίλ, την ίδια ώρα, σημείωσε ότι ο εμφύλιος πόλεμος στη χώρα έχει καταλήξει «σε αδιέξοδο», με τις κυβερνητικές δυνάμεις, αλλά και τους αντάρτες, να μην έχουν αρκετές δυνάμεις για να κατισχύσουν ολοκληρωτικά.
Μιλώντας στο βρετανικό Guardian, σημείωσε ότι η Δαμασκός θα προτείνει στη Γενεύη ανακωχή με την ένοπλη συριακή αντιπολίτευση.
Ο κ. Τζαμίλ, πρώην κομμουνιστής του οποίου το κόμμα είχε λάβει μέρος στις αντικυβερνητικές διαδηλώσεις στην αρχή της εξέγερσης, επέμεινε ότι η θέση την οποία εκφράζει είναι επίσημη κυβερνητική.

Syria rebels agree Azaz ceasefire...
ReplyDeleteTwo Syrian rebel groups in the town of Azaz have agreed a ceasefire.
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (Isis), linked to al-Qaeda, seized the northern town on Wednesday from the larger Western-backed Free Syrian Army.
The fighting between the two groups has raised fears of a possible war within a war.
The BBC's Paul Wood, on the Syrian border with Turkey, says the two sides have agreed to exchange prisoners and hand back property.
It is unclear if the ceasefire will have an impact on clashes between the groups elsewhere in the country, he says.
Analysts say there is more chance that the US and other Western powers may arm the Free Syrian Army if it shows a distinct separation from the Islamists.
Meanwhile, the party of Syria's Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil insists he was misquoted in Friday's edition of the UK's Guardian newspaper.
Mr Jamil reportedly told the paper that the civil war had reached stalemate, with neither government forces nor the rebels strong enough to win - and that the government would use proposed talks in Geneva to call for a ceasefire.

Syrie: accord de trêve à Azaz entre jihadistes et les rebelles de l'ASL...
ReplyDeleteL'Etat islamique d'Irak et du Levant (EIIL) et l'Armée syrienne libre (ASL) ont conclu un accord de trêve à Azaz, ville du nord de la Syrie, conquise mercredi par le groupe jihadiste, lié à Al-Qaïda, rapportent vendredi plusieurs sources.
L'accord a été parrainé par la Brigade Tawhid, puissant groupe armé basé à Alep (nord) qui est sous commandement de l'ASL, le bras armé de la Coalition de l'opposition syrienne, qui est arrivé en renfort dans la ville.
Les deux protagonistes de l'accord, l'EIIL et le Bataillon de la tempête du nord, qui était basé à Azaz et dépend de l'ASL s'engagent à cesser immédiatement les hostilités, à libérer les détenus et à restituer les biens saisis de part et d'autre, selon l'OSDH qui dispose d'un large réseau de militants et de sources médicales en Syrie.
En vertu de l'accord, la Brigade Tawhid s'est interposée entre les deux protagonistes qui ont accepté l'arbitrage d'une commission mixte pour résoudre les problèmes qui peuvent surgir entre eux, selon la même source.
Les combattants de l'EIIL se sont emparés mercredi soir d'Azaz, provoquant la colère d'une partie de ses habitants et l'indignation de la coalition de l'opposition syrienne qui a accusé le groupe jihadiste de se détourner du combat contre le régime pour asseoir son influence dans les "zones libérées".

GENEVA (AA) - Al-Akhdar Al-Ibrahimi, the UN and Arab League envoy to Syria said he would welcome a call for ceasefire in Syria.
In a statement issued by the UN Geneva Office, Ibrahimi is reported as saying that he had always called for an end to the animosity in Syria, and cited as saying: "I would welcome a call for, and compliance with a ceasefire in order to stop the bloodshed in Syria."

Turkey deploys troops, tanks to Syrian border...
ReplyDeleteTurkish authorities have announced the closure of its border crossing with Syria and have deployed rocket launchers, mobile armoured vehicles, tanks and army units to the Turkish- Syrian border.
This happened in response to gunmen affliated with al-Qaeda seizing control over the border town of Aazaz which was under Assad’s control. The rebels posted a video in which they announced joining the group “Victory Front” and waved black flags of the major terrorist organization. Turkey’s fears intensified even more after an attack on the police department in Ankara, when an unknown people fired three times from a grenade launcher. The militants were tracked down in a special operation and one of them was killed and the second was detained by police.
