Κατά τη συνάντησή του στην πρωτεύουσα της Σαρδηνίας με ανέργους, ανάμεσα στους οποίους ήταν εργάτες ορυχείων που φορούσαν τα κράνη τους και του μίλησαν για την κατάστασή τους, ο Πάπας άφησε κατά μέρος το χειρόγραφο της ομιλίας του και αυτοσχεδίασε για σχεδόν 20 λεπτά.
«Βρήκα πόνο εδώ... Σε κάνει αδύναμο και σου στερεί την ελπίδα», είπε. «Συγχωρήστε με αν χρησιμοποιώ δυνατές λέξεις, αλλά εκεί όπου δεν υπάρχει δουλειά, δεν υπάρχει αξιοπρέπεια».
Ο ποντίφικας άφησε κατά μέρος τη χειρόγραφη ομιλία του, αφού άκουσε τον Φραντσέσκο Ματάνα, ένα 45χρονο παντρεμένο πατέρα τριών παιδιών ο οποίος έχασε πριν από τέσσερα χρόνια τη δουλειά του σε μια εταιρεία εναλλακτικών πηγών ενέργειας. Με τη φωνή του να τρέμει, ο κ. Ματάνα είπε στον Πάπα ότι η ανεργία «καταπιέζει και σε φθείρει ως τα βάθη της ψυχής σου».
Το πλήθος των περίπου 20.000 ανθρώπων, το οποίο είχε συγκεντρωθεί σε μια πλατεία κοντά στο λιμάνι του Κάλιαρι, επευφημούσε τον Φραγκίσκο κάθε φορά που εκείνος μιλούσε για τα δικαιώματα των εργατών και τον προσωπικό όλεθρο που φέρνει η ανεργία.
«Δεν θέλουμε αυτό το παγκοσμιοποιημένο οικονομικό σύστημα που μας κάνει τόσο κακό», τόνισε απευθυνόμενος στο πλήθος ο πάπας, ο οποίος αργότερα χοροστάτησε μιας λειτουργίας στην οποία παρέστησαν περίπου 300.000 άνθρωποι έξω από τον καθεδρικό ναό της πόλης. «Οι άνδρες και οι γυναίκες πρέπει να είναι στο κέντρο του οικονομικού συστήματος, όπως το θέλει ο Θεός, όχι το χρήμα».
Ο κόσμος έχει γίνει ειδωλολάτρης και ο θεός του αποκαλείται χρήμα, πρόσθεσε.
Η ανεργία στη Σαρδηνία υπερβαίνει το 18% του ενεργού πληθυσμού (είναι 12% στην Ιταλία) και φτάνει το 51% μεταξύ των νέων. Ωστόσο ο Πάπας έκανε σαφές πως όσα είπε δεν αφορούν μόνο την τοπική κατάσταση.
«Δεν είναι πρόβλημα της Ιταλίας και της Ευρώπης… Είναι η συνέπεια μιας παγκόσμιας επιλογής, ενός οικονομικού συστήματος το οποίο προξενεί αυτή την τραγωδία, ενός οικονομικού συστήματος που έχει στο κέντρο του ένα είδωλο που αποκαλείται χρήμα», τόνισε ο Φραγκίσκος υπό τις επευφημίες του πλήθους.

Pope Francis has called for a global economic system that puts people and not "an idol called money" at its heart, drawing on the hardship of his immigrant family as he sympathised with unemployed workers in a part of Italy that has suffered greatly from the recession.
Addressing about 20,000 people in the Sardinian capital of Cagliari, the Argentinian pontiff said that his parents had "lost everything" after they emigrated from Italy and that he understood the suffering that came from joblessness.
"Where there is no work, there is no dignity," he said, in ad-libbed remarks after listening to three locals, including an unemployed worker who spoke of how joblessness "weakens the spirit". But the problem went far beyond the Italian island, said Francis, who has called for wholesale reform of the financial system.
"This is not just a problem of Sardinia; it is not just a problem of Italy or of some countries in Europe," he said. ReplyDeleteCAGLIARI (Sardinia) — Pope Francis made one of his strongest attacks on the global economic system today (Sept 22), saying it could no longer be based on a “god called money” and urged the unemployed to fight for work.
Pope Francis, at the start of a day-long trip to the island’s capital, put aside his prepared text at a meeting with unemployed workers, including miners in hard hats who told him of their situation, and improvised for nearly 20 minutes.
“I find suffering here ... It weakens you and robs you of hope,” he said, “Excuse me if I use strong words, but where there is no work there is no dignity.”
The crowd of tens of thousands of people in a square near the city port chanted “work, work, work” at the gathering, which took on the feel of a union rally.
Cagliari has a youth unemployment rate of about 51 per cent and much of the island’s mining and industrial sectors are in crisis, with many unemployed.
But the pope made clear that his assessment was not limited to the local.
“It is not a problem of Italy and Europe ... It is the consequence of a world choice, of an economic system that brings about this tragedy, an economic system that has at its centre an idol which is called money,” he said to the cheers of the crowd.

Il Papa a Cagliari: «Ho vissuto nella mia famiglia la sofferenza della crisi, so cosa significa vivere senza lavoro»...
ReplyDeleteCAGLIARI - Il primo incontro del Papa in Sardegna e' davanti a migliaia di disoccupati. Uno di loro a nome di tutti grida: "la mancanza di lavoro genera paura. Non lasciarci soli".
Bergoglio li accontenta subito con una condanna senza se e senza ma, dai toni un po' populisti, di un sistema economico e finanziario sbagliato visto che sembra aver dimenticato totalmente l'uomo. "La crisi economica ha una dimensione europea e globale; ma la crisi non è solo economica, è anche etica, spirituale e umana. Alla radice c’è un tradimento del bene comune, sia da parte di singoli che di gruppi di potere. È necessario quindi togliere centralità alla legge del profitto e della rendita e ricollocare al centro la persona e il bene comune".
Con toni appassionati invita ad aprire gli occhi: " al centro del sistema hanno messo un idolo, il dio denaro". Francesco fa di piu': " serve un lavoro dignitoso per tutti" aggiunge, raccontando alla folla che lo acclama che conosce bene la difficoltà delle persone in cassa integrazione e degli imprenditori e commercianti in difficoltà' per l’esperienza avuta in Argentina. Suo padre nella crisi degli anni Trenta perse tutto. "Per questo vi dico: coraggio! Dobbiamo affrontare con solidarietà e intelligenza questa sfida storica". "Lavoro lavoro, lavoro" continuano ad urlare cori spontanei.
