Russia does not recognize unilateral US sanctions against North Korea, it is necessary to adhere to UN Security Council decisions, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"We proceed from the legitimacy of the UN Security Council’s sanctions as a collective decision of the international community whose aim is improving the situation and overcoming the crisis," she said. "We do not recognize unilateral pressure, sanctions. There are collective sanctions, their purpose is to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula."
"We need to adhere to this format," Zakharova added.
