Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called on Russian fans and tourists heading for UEFA 2016 Euro Cup in France to be vigilant and take necessary precautions.
The diplomat said that extremists had started issuing threats of terror attacks ahead of the forthcoming tournament.
"In this connection, we are urging Russian fans and tourists heading for this sport holiday to take appropriate precautions, be vigilant, respect the local law enforcement rules and follow the instructions prescribed by local laws," Zakharova told a briefing on Friday.
The UEFA EURO-2016 Cup will take place in 10 French cities from June 10 to July 10. France and Romani will open the tournament with a Group A match at 22:00 Moscow time on Friday night. The match will take place at France’s biggest stadium Stade de France in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis.
The Russian national team will play its first Euro-2016 Group B match vs. the team of England at the Velodrome stadium in Marseille on Saturday. The Russians will also meet the teams of Slovakia (in Lille on June 15) and Wales (in Toulouse on June 20) in Group B.
