German airliner Lufthansa canceled on Wednesday 890 flights affecting 98,000 passengers due to an increasingly acrimonious pilot strike.
Lufthansa's low-cost airliners, Eurowings and Germanwings, for the time being, have not been affected by the pilot's industrial action.
A spokesperson for the pilots trade union Vereinigung Cockpit said walkouts could continue in the next days, adding they would give 24 hours prior notice.
The trade union is asking for a 22 percent salary increase for Lufthansa's pilots, spread-out over a five year period.
The company's counter-offer proposed a 2.5 percent increase.
