The demands of the Syrian opposition to withdraw Hezbollah and Iranian militias from Syria are "mean and weak," Iran will not consider them, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Ansari told Sputnik on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Mohammed Alloush, the head of the armed opposition delegation to the talks in Astana, that Iran could not play any role in the Syrian settlement.
"We will not consider these claims and respond to them, as these are mean and week statements of the parties, which brought upon themselves, the Syrian people and the entire Middle East region misery and woe, one after the other," Ansari said.
Ansari accused those making such calls of being biased.
"We do not consider these statements [as they] do not correspond to reality. We try our best with our partners of Russia and Turkey to put an end to this misery and begin a new phase of life in Syria, whose people have the full right to decide the future of the country," he added.
