Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned US allegations that the Syrian government has used chemical weapon in eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside, stressing that these claims come after Washington has failed in passing its draft resolutions against Syria at the Security Council.
An official source at the ministry said on Saturday "Syria stresses that the US officials' claims, which are not based on evidence that proves their authenticity according to the US officials themselves, in addition to the allegations which one time accuse the Syrian state of using chlorine and the other time accuse it of using Sarin in attacks on Syrian areas, are nothing but lies based on the narratives of what the US administration called its partners on ground aiming to protect the armed terrorist groups it supporting."
"These partners on ground, who are loyal to the US policies, are the terrorists and the killers who shed the Syrian blood and committed crimes against the Syrians to justify a western and American intervention in Syria," the source added.
"The American allegations coincide with efforts being exerted to end the war on Syria and reach a peaceful solution away from foreign intervention. They also come after Washington has failed to pass its draft resolutions against Syria at the Security Council," the source clarified.
"Syria affirms that the western-backed media's claims about the use of chemical weapons in Syria is a new version of the desperate intentions of western and American side, which is allied with terrorists in Syria, to create pretexts to attack Syria, particularly after the achievements made by the Syrian Arab army in its war on terrorism countrywide, the source went on to say.
The Syrian Arab Republic reaffirms that it is against the use of chemical weapon in any place or at any time or under any circumstances, because it contradicts Syria's moral principles and completely contradicts with the confirmed fact that Syria has handed over its entire stockpile of chemical weapons to the US Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
