Berlin: EU to Discuss Potential Sanctions Against Turkey Over Eastern Mediterranean in December - Sputnik International
The EU leaders could discuss potential sanctions against Turkey over its actions in Eastern Mediterranean in December, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said Thursday.
"There are new provocations every time, unfortunately, so this is up to Turkey. Unless there are some positive signals from Turkey by December, if the provocations, such as [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan's visit to Northern Cyprus, continue, there will be a difficult discussion [at the summit of EU leaders in December]", Maas said ahead of the meeting of foreign ministers.

ReplyDeleteIl ministro degli Esteri turco Mevlut Cavusoglu ha dichiarato a settembre che non si aspettava che l'UE sanzionasse la Turchia per le controversie marittime con Grecia e Cipro e che il blocco europeo non ha una posizione unificata sulla questione.
La sua dichiarazione arriva dopo che il vertice dei sette paesi mediterranei dell'Unione europea (EU-Med) ha espresso pieno sostegno e solidarietà a Cipro e Grecia di fronte alle azioni provocatorie della Turchia e ha anche proposto di espandere le sanzioni contro Ankara.
