SANA-Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, affirmed that Western countries are responsible for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria, calling on them to recognize their responsibility for that and to abandon unilateral interpretation of humanitarian issues.
During a joint press conference on Monday with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Helga Schmid, Lavrov stressed the need to engage the Syrian government in aid delivering process.
He reiterated that Syria is ready for that, but unfortunately “our partners in the United Nations and others have so far been unable to coordinate on this clear and legitimate stance.”
In this regard, Lavrov criticized the policy of the United States and the European Union concerning the Syrian refugees, stressing that they seek to obstruct their return to their motherland and keep them at refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan.
As for the so-called “Caesar Act,” and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, Lavrov affirmed that their goal is to obstruct assistance in the file of reconstruction in Syria and to restore the humanitarian conditions of the Syrian people to what was before the crisis to increase separatist tendencies and strike the unity of the Syrian state.
