1. Millions of Ukrainian civilians face several weeks – possibly longer – of fuel disruptions due to attacks on energy infrastructure, transportation bottlenecks and a supply cutoff by Russia and Belarus.
Zelenskiy has pledged to take steps by mid-May to end the shortages that have closed about half of the country’s approximately 7,000 fuel stations and created long lines at those with limited supplies.
Ukraine imported 80 percent of its oil products before the conflict with 62 percent of its gasoline and 44 percent of its diesel supplied by Russia and Belarus.
The loss of those sources is now being managed with imports from European sources using the country's extensive railroad system, according to its military sources.

2. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday said that the EC, as part of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, invited EU countries to begin phasing out Russian oil.
The exact parameters of the oil embargo, if adopted, will be released upon the approval of the EC proposals by the EU states.
According to diplomatic sources and European news media, the European Commission has proposed that EU countries abandon Russian crude oil imports within six months, and petroleum products imports in 2023.
Different conditions are also expected to be set for halting the imports of oil by tanker and pipeline.
