A suicide bomb blast has struck a police vehicle in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta, killing at least one police officer and one civilian and wounding dozens, according to police.
"A bomb blast targeted a police patrol that wounded 21 people, including 15 police officials," police official Abdul Haq told Reuters. Police were on duty to guard a police vaccination team, he said.
Quetta’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police Ghulam Azfar Mahesar told reporters the vehicle that was targeted was carrying security personnel who were deployed to protect polio vaccination campaign workers in the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
