The United States has reduced patrols in northern Syria, but did not redeploy forces because of the threat of a Turkish operation. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder.
"We have reduced the number of patrols ... We have not redeployed our forces. We remain focused on countering the threat from ISIS (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia), in this regard, the possibilities are not reduced," he said.
Ryder stressed that the number of patrols has decreased as the Kurdish formations have taken similar measures.
The Pentagon spokesman did not assess the likelihood of a "Turkish invasion" of northern Syria. At the same time, he noted that he expects restraint, which will allow the continuation of operations against ISIS.
