Russia launched an overnight air attack on the Western Ukraine city of Lviv, rocking it and the surrounding region with explosions, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said on the Telegram messaging app early on Tuesday.
It was not immediately clear whether the explosions were Ukraine's defence systems repelling the attack or target being hit.
Russia has launched a series of air raids across Ukraine aimed at Kyiv and cities from east to west.
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that according to preliminary information, Ukraine’s air defense systems shot down 32 out of 30 Iranian-made Shahed drones that Russia launched on Tuesday.

Explosions have also been reported in the Cherkasy Region in central Ukraine, the media outlet said.
The Zerkalo Nedeli news outlet, in turn, reported explosions in the Vinnitsa and Khmelnitsky regions.
Earlier, air raid sirens went off in most of Ukraine.

Die Luftabwehrsysteme seien im Einsatz und wehrten den Angriff ab, teilt die Militärverwaltung auf der Nachrichten-App Telegram mit.

Four electrical substations in Kiev lost power in the morning resulting in blackouts in a number of districts, the Ukrainian energy company DTEK said.
ReplyDeleteOn its Telegram channel, it reported that at 7:47 a.m., four high-voltage substations in Kiev lost power, leaving three districts without electricity.
The power company reported that electricians engaged reserve power sources and by 8:12 a.m., "returned light to all houses."
Earlier, the Klymenko Time news portal reported power outages in many parts of Kiev on Tuesday morning. According to it, the municipal electric transportation system was not operating either. The municipal administration said that due to damage to external communications, subway payment terminals were temporarily down.
Overnight, several explosions took place in Kiev and an air raid alert in the capital lasted more than 3.5 hours.
