Germany will be forced to curtail or even stop industrial capacity if the gas transit agreement between Ukraine and Russia is not extended after it expires at the end of next year. German Economy Minister Robert Habeck warned about this on Monday, June 12.
The minister, speaking at a conference on economic issues in East Germany, urged politicians to learn from the past and not allow damage to the economy due to non-compliance with precautions to ensure a normal energy supply in the absence of Russian fuel.
Habek, who is also Vice Chancellor, issued a scathing warning Monday at an economic conference, saying policymakers should avoid "repeating the same mistake" by assuming the economy won't suffer without energy security precautions.
