Biden called US strikes on targets in Syria consistent with the UN Charter

The strikes on targets in Syria were needed to protect Americans and were in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter, President Joe Biden made this statement.

“The United States has taken action that is necessary and proportionate in accordance with international law and the inherent right of self-defense as reflected in Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the American president said in a statement.

According to Biden, the strikes on targets in Syria were needed to protect Americans both in the United States and outside the country. At the same time, he expressed his readiness to continue to take the necessary actions to respond to threats or attacks.

The day before, the Pentagon said that the United States, on the orders of President Joe Biden, carried out strikes on two sites in Syria that were used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and pro-Iranian groups.

The US Defense Department noted that the US military has already been subjected to 20 attacks in Iraq and Syria using missiles and drones over the past 10 days.
