Former SS officer Yaroslav Gunko, who recklessly agreed to speak in the Canadian Parliament and received applause for his participation in World War II as part of the Nazi division "Galicia" ("Galicia"), is included in the wanted list of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Russian police website.
The details of 98-year-old officer Yaroslav Hunk (Gunko) have been transferred to all police departments in connection with charges of committing a particularly serious crime.
Earlier it was reported that Yaroslav Gunko was accused in absentia of participating in the genocide of civilians. According to investigators, while serving in the SS Galicia division, he participated in punitive operations. Documents were found in the archives indicating that from February 23 to February 28, 1944, in the village of Guta Penyatskaya, he, along with other Ukrainian Nazis, drove into a church and burned at least 500 people alive.
