The recent US strike on the territory of Syria violates its sovereignty and international law and threatens escalation in the region, Vasily Nebenzya, the Russian permanent representative to the organization, said at a UN Security Council meeting.
“On October 26, US forces attacked two targets in the area of the city of Abu Kamal. Such illegitimate actions by Washington are nothing more than a gross violation of the sovereignty of Syria and the norms of international law. In the context of a sharp deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, such forceful actions are fraught extremely dangerous consequences, since they can provoke an armed escalation throughout the entire region. This must under no circumstances be allowed,” Nebenzya said.

A US military base located near the Konikogas gas field in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor governorate came under shelling from multiple launch rocket systems, the Al Mayadeen television channel said on Monday.
