Kiev stated that they are ready to attack the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said Kyiv could strike Russia's oil and gas infrastructure if Moscow intensifies attacks on his country's electrical system this winter. He spoke about this in an interview with Politico.

    “In response to a Russian attack, we would respond with the same approach, attacking their energy infrastructure,” the newspaper quotes him as saying.

He noted that he is not a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and did not discuss possible goals of “Russian energy operations” with government representatives from the United States.

He was asked whether this meant that “Russia’s vast oil and gas operations and the largest engine of its economy” could come under attack from Ukraine; Galushchenko answered positively.

When asked whether such a move by the Kyiv authorities would affect world prices for oil and gas, Minister Galushchenko replied that “the world will cope.” 

“Attacks on infrastructure will not be so critical for prices, especially when it comes to gas and oil. I mean that this is a fuel that can be bought not only in Russia. I am confident that the world will cope,” the Ukrainian minister said in an interview.

Earlier, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev called the attacks on the Leningrad, Kalinin and Kursk nuclear power plants a weakness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Due to the failures of Ukrainian military personnel on the battlefield, Patrushev said, they are increasingly resorting to assassinations and murders of Russian citizens, as well as attacks on civilian objects and critical infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
