The United States still does not believe that Israel is violating international law in its strikes on the Gaza Strip and does not intend to respond to each new strike, White House strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said Tuesday.
“Your question presupposes that we made some determination that the law was broken in an armed conflict, but we did not,” he told reporters when asked about Israel's possible violation of international law in the Gaza strikes.
Kirby added that the United States is not going to respond to every new case of civilian casualties, and Israel has the right and responsibility to defend itself.
