Units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have completed a search and rescue operation at the site of an Il-76 plane crash in the Ivanovo Region, the regional government said in a statement.
"Emergencies Ministry units have completed a search and rescue operation at the plane crash site," the statement reads.
Ivanovsky District Head Sergey Nizov said earlier that a rescue team was working at the site.
An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed in the Ivanovo Region earlier on Tuesday. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, one of the plane’s engines caught fire during takeoff. There were eight crew members and seven passengers aboard the aircraft; their fate remains unknown.
Pilots flying the Il-76 military transport plane that crashed in the central Russian region of Ivanovo were killed in the incident, Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler said.

"Grave news came from Ivanovo today. An Ivanovo Region-based Il-76 military transport plane has crashed. This is a great loss for the whole country and our armed forces. Orenburg pilots were on board by a fateful turn of events," the governor said.
The governor expressed condolences to the families and friends of the pilots.
