Nebenzya accused the US permanent representative of ignorance of the UN Charter

All resolutions of the UN Security Council are mandatory, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya told reporters, expressing regret that his American colleague did not read the organization’s Charter.

Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the month of Ramadan. During her speech, the US Permanent Representative dropped the phrase that the resolution is not binding.

"All Security Council resolutions are fully binding, and I regret that (US) Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield has not read the UN Charter," Nebenzya said.
