Iran on Sunday urged Israel not to retaliate militarily to an unprecedented attack overnight, which Tehran presented as a justified response to a deadly strike on its consulate building in Damascus.
"The matter can be deemed concluded," Iran's mission to the United Nations said in a post on social media platform X just a few hours after the start of the operation late Saturday.
"However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran's response will be considerably more severe," the Iranian mission warned.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran summoned the ambassadors of the UK, France and Germany to Tehran over the “irresponsible stances” that a number of the European troika’s officials have adopted on Iran’s retaliatory attack on the Israeli regime’s military targets.
In the early hours of Sunday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps carried out the punitive mission “Operation True Promise” in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus that claimed the lives of seven IRGC forces on April 1.
As a number of the British, French and German authorities have adopted “irresponsible stances” on Iran’s retaliatory response to the hostile Israeli attacks on Iran’s interests and nationals, the ambassadors of the three European states were summoned by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.
The three ambassadors, who went to the Foreign Ministry separately, were reminded by the director general of the ministry’s West Europe department about the litany of the Israeli regime’s anti-human activities in violation of international law, the most recent case of which was the cowardly airstrike on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus that resulted in the martyrdom of seven Iranian military advisors and a number of Syrian civilians.
