US occupation forces in Iraq and Syria encountered separate attacks within the last 24 hours, marking the first such incidents after a near three-month hiatus amidst mounting regional outrage over Washington’s backing of Israeli genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
Reported by Reuters on Monday, unnamed Iraqi security sources and US officials disclosed that missile and drone assaults targeted American military bases.
An American official revealed that at least one armed drone targeted the Ain al-Asad air base, home to US troops in Iraq's western Anbar province.
Additionally, US and Iraqi authorities confirmed five rockets launched from northern Iraq toward American forces at a base in Rimelan, situated in remote northeastern Syria.
Thus far, there have been no reports of casualties or the extent of damage from these attacks. No groups or individuals have claimed responsibility for the strikes as of yet.
