Ireland, Spain and Norway’s decision to recognize the sovereignty of Palestine will help move the needle toward establishing an independent Palestinian state, the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Palestinian leadership welcomes the contributions made by Ireland, Spain and Norway "in support of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination on their soil and in taking concrete steps towards the establishment of two independent states, including the State of Palestine," the statement reads.
The ambassadors of Ireland, Spain and Norway to Israel have been summoned to the Jewish state’s Foreign Ministry after their countries decided to recognize Palestine as a state, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said.

US President Joe Biden believes a Palestinian state should be achieved through negotiations, not unilateral recognition, the White House said on Wednesday after Ireland, Spain and Norway said they would recognize a Palestinian state this month.
