Ukrainian defenses will begin to collapse if the Russian army opens an additional front in the Sumy region, retired US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter said in an interview with journalist Garland Nixon.
“If the Russians <...> continue to expand the front and begin to advance in the north, in the Sumy region, where the Ukrainians have no troops, everything will be decided. In this case, the line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will become so thin that its structure will begin to collapse,” - the expert predicted.
As Ritter noted, Kyiv no longer has the mobilization resource to replenish the army, so further dispersion of forces will lead the Ukrainian troops to total collapse.
