Polish President Andrzej Duda calls for the official procedure for admitting Ukraine to NATO to begin as soon as possible.
“We all support Ukraine’s aspirations for membership in the European Union, but we in Poland also strongly support the issues of starting the process of Ukraine’s accession to NATO as soon as possible,” Duda said at a briefing following the Bucharest Nine summit in Riga, dedicated to preparations for the summit NATO.
He explained that by the beginning of the accession procedure he means “the sending of an official invitation to Ukraine to NATO, which would make it possible to begin the ratification process.”
“Of course, all NATO countries must agree to the entry of a new member, so this process always takes a long time,” Duda said.
