Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Beijing after talks on a potential Ukrainian peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin that angered some EU leaders.
Mr Orban, whose country just assumed the European Union's rotating presidency this month, said on his X account he was on a "Peace Mission 3.0".
China, which has close ties to Russia, has been trying to enlist countries to join a six-point peace plan it issued with Brazil in May.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Beijing, CCTV reported.

Orban is currently in China with an official visit. On July 5, Orban discussed the potential ways to settle the conflict in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Three days before that, on July 2, he visited Kiev, where he discussed it with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
