The Kiev regime’s forces tried to bombard the Kursk nuclear power plant at night, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting focused on the situation in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions.
The Ukrainian Army launched an offensive at 5.30 a.m. on August 6 to seize territory in the Kursk region, but their advance was stopped, Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Valery Gerasimov said.
"The enemy tried to launch strikes on the nuclear power plant at night today,” Putin said, adding that the "International Atomic Energy Agency has been informed, they promise to ... come themselves and send specialists for an assessment."
Gerasimov emphasized that the operation in Kursk region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border.

The Ukrainian troops attempted to strike the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday night, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been notified and promised to come over and assess the situation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the meeting on the situation in Russia’s border regions.

Previously, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that there is a very serious risk of damage to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plan due to the actions of the Ukrainian troops. He also stated his plans to visit to power plant next week, in order to talk to its management and to determine if any attacks took place. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that the details of Grossi’s visit are currently in the works.

«Они обещают сами приехать и прислать специалистов для оценки ситуации. Надеюсь, что в конце концов это будет с их стороны сделано», - сказал российский лидер.
Гендиректор МАГАТЭ Рафаэль Гросси сообщил, что планирует посетить Киев после визита в Курскую область, который, предварительно, должен состояться в начале следующей недели.
