Iran's Foreign Minister has told the UN Security Council that the devastating airstrike on southern Beirut Friday evening was carried out using a US-made "Bunker Buster". The Israeli army has in its arsenal 2,000 kilogram American-made “Bunker Buster” guided bombs designed specifically for hitting subterranean targets.
“The Israeli regime used several 5,000-pound bunker busters that had been gifted to them by the United States to hit residential areas in Beirut,” said Assad Araghchi. “Israel’s warmongering relies on US military support and political backing… therefore, the United States is implicated in every aspect of Israel’s atrocity."
At least six people were killed and 91 injured in the bombing, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The death toll is likely to rise significantly as teams are still combing through the rubble of six buildings.
Israel Defense Forces jets are delivering strikes near the Beirut international airport, Al Mayadeen television reported.

Earlier, the IDF said its Air Force was striking Hezbollah sites in Beirut.
Lebanese daily Al Akhbar has published its Saturday edition. The headline describes the Israeli airstrikes overnight as "total war". The front page uses a picture which appears to show the aftermath of one of the airstrikes, with piles of rubble in the background.

The early hours of Saturday morning have seen a renewed assault on Lebanon, with Israeli fighter jets relentlessly bombing the southern suburbs of Beirut.
