Four fighter jets were scrambled on the night of September 27 due to the alleged discovery of a Russian drone near the Romanian border, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reports.
“On Friday, September 27, Russian forces carried out a new series of attacks against Ukraine near the river border with Romania, on the Danube branch of Kiliya,” the Romanian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The republic’s department also noted that groups of drones were allegedly discovered that were approaching Ukrainian airspace “near the airspace of Romania.”
At 01:52 local time, two Romanian F-16s were scrambled to monitor the situation, and at 03:22 two Spanish F-18s. All four fighters returned to base at approximately 04:00.
