US President Joe Biden and his senior aides have urged Israel to avoid direct attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities when it retaliates against Tehran, Politico writes.
Israel has made clear that it will respond to Iran's missile strike with force. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a public address that Tehran “will pay for this.” He confirmed his intention to adhere to the rule “whoever attacks, we will attack them.”
Biden aides said the U.S. is actively communicating with Israel about a response that could include a military strike. Among the options being discussed are strikes against Iranian-backed militias or directly against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces in Yemen or Syria. Washington favors a limited response.
