Reuters is quoting two anonymous Western officials as saying Russia did not use an intercontinental ballistic missile during the attack on Dnipro.

A spokesman for France’s Foreign Ministry says he cannot confirm Russia had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) against Ukraine, adding that such a development would be a serious escalation if reports are true.

A Russian intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that Ukraine says was fired at the city of Dnipro on Thursday was an RS-26 Rubezh, Ukraine’s Ukrainska Pravda media outlet reported, citing anonymous sources.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry on Thursday called on the international community to react swiftly to Russia’s use of a “new type of weaponry”, though he stopped short of saying it was confirmed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile.
