Raging wildfires surrounded Los Angeles, killing at least five people, destroying hundreds of homes and stretching firefighting resources and water supplies to the limit, as more than 100,000 people were ordered to evacuate.
Fierce winds hindered firefighting operations and fueled the fires, which have burned unimpeded over the last two days.
Five separate fires burned in Los Angeles County, all of them 0% contained according to state officials.
Approximately 1,500 firefighters are battling the blaze. Local authorities have requested assistance from firefighters from neighboring counties and emergency services from the states of Washington, Oregon and Nevada. However, none of the three fires have been located. There is still low humidity in the area of the fires, accompanied by strong wind gusts.

US President Joe Biden on Thursday canceled his scheduled trip to Italy to focus on taking measures against wildfires that have been sweeping across California since earlier in the week, White House Spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said.

The number of victims of the fires that broke out in Los Angeles County, California, has risen to five people, Sheriff Robert Luna told ABC.
