Lavrov rules out freezing Ukraine conflict along engagement line

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov rejected the idea of freezing the Ukrainian conflict along the engagement line, saying Russia's borders are enshrined in its constitution.

"Some people say: Let's leave the engagement line - this is Russian and this is Ukrainian. First of all, this is not going to happen. We have a constitution based on the will of the people," he told reporters as he wrapped up his trip to Qatar.

"And secondly, whatever will remain of Ukraine should also be freed from racist laws. "There are people living there that are more comfortable speaking Russian, that want to preserve the traditions of their ancestors, who were brought up in Russian culture," the minister went on to say.
