The US administration intend to receive rare-earth metals from Ukraine as a compensation for funds spent to support Kiev, NBC News television reports, citing Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for the White House’s National Security Council.
"As President Trump shared yesterday, the United States needs to recoup any money it spends or has spent on Ukraine aid. The discussions over the weekend centered around how best to ensure that repayment, and a timetable has yet to be established," the official said.
On February 3, US President Donald Trump said that the US is interested in receiving rare-earth metals from Ukraine and seek after relevant guarantees from Kiev.
Vladimir Zelensky recognized in his turn that huge volumes of mineral resources and rare metals offered by Ukraine to the US are in territories not controlled by Kiev.
